Hello. My name is Rayna Chavez and I'm in the graduating class of 2019 at High Tech High North County. After high school, my dream is to attend culinary school--specifically, the Culinary Institute of America in New York. I have been strongly passionate about cooking since the age of 9. I got into cooking because I have food allergies to dairy, nuts, eggs, and gluten and live a vegan lifestyle. I learned that if I cook for myself, I can make meals the way I want to eat them in regards to my dietary restrictions. However, while I have my heart set on becoming a chef, cooking isn't my only passion. I also enjoy biology, writing, and language learning. In April 2016 I picked up American Sign Language and, since then, have taken two college level classes in the language and am proud to consider myself proficient. I am also proud to be straight edge, meaning that I am committed to a poison free life (no alcohol, drugs, smoking, or other mind/body altering substances).
I am a deep thinker and music is what aids my self-discovery and aspirations to work towards a better self every day. I am proud of who I am and am excited to see my future out. |
